【木の特ちょう―ヒコバエが育つ】
戦前、境内には2本の兄弟ボダイジュが立っていました。原爆投下後、ボダイジュは早いうちに芽を吹き返し、多くの人に生きる希望を与えました。当時、「70年間、草木も生えない」と新聞に記事が出て、もう広島で生きていけないのではないかと、宝勝院のご住職、國分一家は四国の親戚を頼ってこの地を離れることも考えていました。しかし、境内ではボダイジュが芽生え、畑では里芋も芽を出し、「大丈夫だ、ここで生きていける」とこの地でお寺を再建することを決めました。2015年４月撮影
【被爆を伝える】
1956（昭和31）年、兄弟ボダイジュの1本を広島平和記念公園に寄贈。境内に立つボダイジュはすでに枯死しましたが、同じ根から出たヒコバエが次々と芽生え、そのうちの元気な数本が大切に育てられています。原爆を知るボダイジュは生き続け、ヒロシマで何が起こったか？を伝え続けていきます。境内では「被爆ツバキ」も毎年、赤やピンクの花を咲かせています。

This tree survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, about 1,820m from the hypocenter.
Before the War, there were two bohdi trees in Hoshoin Temple. The Atomic bombed bohdi trees put forth new shoots in the burnt-out ruins of the temple, encouraging people to have hope for the future. Mr.Kuniwake and his father rebuilt the temple in the same place. They donated one of trees to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park in 1956. Although the bohdi tree in the temple died 2 years ago, and the trunk was weak, the new bohdi tree from the same root has grown.
★Let's go to see this tree ! 20 minute walk from the Hiroshima station. There is this tree in Hoshoin Temple. There is other A-bombed trees, including a camellia.The tree also bloom every year.
被爆当時16歳だった名誉住職、國分さんから譲っていただいたボダイジュの種。プロペラのような羽根が特徴です
